The Bioglitzer consists of 3 natural components:

1. Cellulose film
Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls and the most common organic compound in the world. It is processed into a smooth, transparent material using a newly developed process. The cellulose in the BIRKENSPANNER Bioglitzer comes exclusively from sustainable eucalyptus plantations in Europe.

2. Minerals
For the different colors of the BIRKENMOPNER Bioglitter, we use different earths and semiprecious stones from select Canadian sources. Powdered and mixed with shellac, the powder is then applied to the cellulose film.

3. Shellac
Shellac is a resin-like, natural adhesive. Lac insects secrete it and use it to protect their offspring. Once the baby lice have hatched, the resin is harvested and used, among other things, for our Bioglitter. No baby lice are harmed in the process.

HOW DOES THE BIOGLITTER STAY ON THE SKIN?
Step 1: Take some clear lip balm, for example, and apply it to one spot on your face.
Step 2: Sprinkle the Bioglitter in your favorite color and dab it in with your fingers. If you need more precision, use a brush. Et voilà – your glitter makeup is ready.

The organic glitter feels pleasant on the skin and lasts all night. To remove it, all you need is water and a little soap. Since the glitter is biodegradable, you can simply rinse it down the sink.

THE MOST SUSTAINABLE GLITTER ON THE MARKET
Not all organic glitter is the same! BIRKENSPANNER glitter is made in Germany, and its biodegradability has been certified by the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association) for lakes and oceans. Within 51 days, over 90% had already been degraded. Unlike other glitter, this one contains no aluminum or other heavy or light metals. BIRKENSPANNER's organic glitter also contains no harmful substances, making it harmless to humans and nature.

CLIMATE NEUTRAL
When it comes to climate neutrality, BIRKENSPANNER follows the maxim: avoid - reduce - compensate. Emissions that cannot be further reduced during production are offset through certified reforestation projects. We are supported in analyzing our value chain by the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and Zukunftswerk.

SUPPORTS CLEAN OCEANS
With every purchase of BIRKENSPANNER products, the work of Plastic Fischer is supported. The project uses plastic fences in the tributaries of large rivers in Indonesia, India, and Vietnam. There, the plastic collects and can be fished out and further processed. They use low-cost and locally available raw materials, create jobs, and spread the solution as open source for replication. BIRKENSPANNER donates 50 cents to the project for every glitter sold.
